Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a good holiday season and you were able to spend it with the people you love!
Now that Christmas is over you might be feeling a little depressed, maybe you just feel like there’s nothing to look forward to anymore. But, just because it’s all over doesn’t mean we have to stop celebrating!
Christmas isn’t just a thing you get all excited for and you prepare months in advance, then you celebrate with gifts, food, and traditions. Christmas needs to be celebrated ALL year. Because Jesus deserves to be celebrated every day.
If you can, I’d like you to grab your Bible and read Luke 2.
Yes, I know you’ve read it before and you know the story. But, please do it.
First, I’d like you to notice how vague the story of Jesus’ birth is. All we know is Caesar Augustus ordered that a census be taken. So, Joseph and Mary headed to Bethlehem and there Jesus was born. They placed Him in a manger, because there was no where else to go.
We don’t know how long they were in Bethlehem before Mary went into labor. People have speculations, but no one knows for sure.
Of course, details don’t really matter. All we need is the fact that the long awaited Messiah was finally here.
The True Meaning of Christmas
Now, read verse 8 through 12.
Here everyone thought this “king” would be born in a castle, to a queen, laid in a cushion-y crib, visited by wealthy people.
Nope. God had different plans.
Jesus was born in a manger, to a teenage girl. Even more surprising, the first people to visit were shepherds.
The shepherds being the first, was to show that God has a heart for the lowly. Shepherds are people who lived in fields with sheep and most likely they didn’t take baths often.
The shepherds are us.
We’re dirty. Not on the outside, but on the inside. Our hearts are dirty. Like the shepherds, we need to visit Jesus. We also need to spread the news about Jesus to others.

So, celebrate Christmas all year round. Visit Jesus daily and tell the good news about Him to people everywhere.
“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child.” -Luke 2:16-17
